“Creekside Variations” - Carey Crane
This August, Jo Fleming Contemporary Art invites you to experience Creekside Variations, a dynamic exhibition of recent abstract paintings by local artist Carey Crane.
Crane’s intuitive approach to painting is rooted in play, movement, and a responsiveness to the natural world. Using free-flowing brushstrokes and painted lines, he brings together memories, emotions, and visual experiences in works that are instinctive, energetic, and often dreamlike.
Raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, Crane was influenced by time spent in his father’s art studio. He earned a BFA from the University of Florida in 1982 and later worked as a museum exhibit fabricator and curator before returning to his painting practice in 2010. Today, Crane lives and works in Shady Side, Maryland.
