April Showers
Jo Fleming Contemporary Art celebrates spring with “April Showers,” a botanical show by four regional artists.
Camilla Schwarz aspires to paint the feeling of the moment in nature and light. Her work is loose and abstracted but the lines, shapes and colors are reminiscent of the English garden. Carol Rubin presents tangles of brushwork rooted in abstract expressionism and defines large unwieldy arrangements of flowers and landscape. Barbara Miller takes the approach of organizing tight but varied bouquets of highly realistic upscaled spring flowers floating in a field of strong color. Our fourth artist, Beckie Laughlin barely references natural forms, she captures the energy and movement of nature with intuitive gestures.
